Math

Grades 1-2

HMH GO MATH is a textbook for children K-2 and it aligns to the Next Generation Mathematics Framework. The Common Core State Standards provide clear and consistent learning goals to help prepare students. The standards clearly demonstrate what students are expected to learn at each grade level, so that every parent and teacher can understand and support their learning. Students will learn non-standard and standard units to measure length, and write time, represent and interpret data and reason with shapes and their attributes.

Grades 3-6

Students use HMH GO MATH series. We aim to create confident mathematicians who enjoy tackling challenging tasks.  We do this through teaching the fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. We teach a broad and balanced curriculum which aims to meet the needs of all learners.  We teach a broad and balanced curriculum which aims to meet the needs of all learners. Concrete materials and two-dimensional representations will be used to solve problems, probability and equivalence of fractions and decimals. They will learn about different geometric figures and solve perimeter, circumference, area, volume and so on.

Science

Grades 1-6

The Science Fusion program at BGS follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) along with the common core standards.  These standards are rich in content and practice and are arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide students an internationally bench-marked science education.

Our children learn scientific skills and content in a meaningful and cross curricular way. They will have opportunities to gain knowledge and understanding through first hand experiences, as well as using books, charts and pictures and web-based resources to support their learning. They are encouraged to design and carry out their own investigations as well as communicate what they have found out to others in a variety of different ways.

Language Arts

Grades 1-6

Journeys is a research-based, comprehensive English Language Arts program designed to provide solid instruction that is clear and focused with realistic pacing and manageable resources. The language arts program consists of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. A common core approach is utilized. Language Arts

The grades 7-12 Language Arts program will incorporate a variety of topics, genres, and themes related to skills necessary for college bound students who need more academic challenge, where reading, writing, and analysis are imperative.

Guided by the Common Core standards our students get to analyze style; literary techniques used by the author, literary merit of a piece and get the opportunity to dive deep in the subject matter and also to analyze several life skills. A student who completes this program is able to respond to works of great complexity and depth.

This program is developed such that it gives ample opportunity to the students to integrate technology in their daily learning. The program provides summative assessment tasks which can be performed through efficient use of technology in and out of the classrooms.

While readers and writers can and often do work alone, they also need to be able to work in collaborative settings in order to solve contemporary problems that are often interdisciplinary, ranging from implementing environmental protection to balancing the issues of ethnic diversity. To secure this necessary collaboration for solving these special kinds of problems, the students will need a repertoire of tools including technology.

Science

Our Science program is a comprehensive program aligned to the international standards. Students practice science the way scientists and engineers do. They work in collaborative groups to iteratively solve problems and explore challenges. Science and engineering practices are integrated into the curriculum   Project based learning is an integral part of the curriculum where in student pursue  answers,  conduct investigation, make models, collect and analyze data, weigh evidence, write explanation and apply creative, critical, and independent thinking skills.

Our Science program encourages students to connect between principles studied and real world situations. Student use technology and data probes to successfully complete lab work. Books contain hands-on activities for every lesson.  Inquiry lessons, labs, can be modified to provide three levels of inquiry: directed inquiry, guided inquiry, and independent inquiry.
